Chapter 5 Questions

1.When David turned 11 he knew about first aid and how to cure his wounds. He knew if look at his mom or brothers that he would get slap in the face.
2.David saw from the corner of his eyes his mom rocking in the chair like she was going to fall and the knife coming his way.
3. David's mom stabbed him in the stomach because she told him to finish the dishes on time or she was going to kill him.
4.The accident was that mom stabbed him. No I don’t think it was an accident at all.
5.Mom seem to feel a little bit of guilty but at the same time she showed no remorse.
6.She stabbed David in the stomach with a knife.
7.She told David that he could play outside with his brothers and that she would feed him later when he felt a little better.
8.His father told David to go back into the kitchen and finish the dishes before his mom gets more upset. He didn’t care all he was worry was about mom finding David talking to him.
9.It took David like an hour and a half to finish his chores.
10.The code of the family was that if we don’t acknowledge a problem, it doesn’t exist.
11.David thought that mom was trying to make it up to him or that she was feeling guilty.
12.David saw in his wound that it was bigger and it was with pus and dried blood.
13.Mother changes her attitude by being more nice and letting David play with his brothers. I think she did this because she felt a bit guilty even though she shows like no emotions.
14.David brain wash himself so he can block the pain away from him.

chapter 4 questions

1.David store food from his classmate, then other classrooms, then at a market, and then stealing food from the school cafeteria.
2.The mom would beat him up by punching him and kicking him. She would make him throw up by sticking her fingers in his mouth when he refused. Then one time she smashed a diaper into his face and told him to eat it.
3.David's dad try to help by sneaking food into the basement to him but it didn’t work. Also he would try to talk to his mom so she would give him some food at least.
4.She brought his baby brother to the principals office and said that David scratch and punch himself just to get attention because he was jealous of his little brother.
5.She beat him up like always and made him throw up forcefully. She also made him eat ammonia and drink Clorox and soap too. She mad him throw up and eat his own vomit.
6.She force him to eat the diaper poop and smashed it on his face.
7.I don’t think his punishments are reasonable because he is hungry and he gets punish for stealing food. Also he is a little boy and they beat him up too much.
8.Other students treat David like if he was not one of them. They make fun of him and sing mean songs to him and call him names.
9.Some of his plans was to go to the market during break and steal food. It work for a while until he got caught and the store manager call his mom. Also to steal food from the school cafeteria. It work but then his mom would make him throw up every day afterschool.
10.I think his mom is not feeding just so he could go steal food and get caught then his mom would have like an excuse to beat him up and call him a bad boy.
11.His mom knew he was eating because every day she would make him throw up and there would be food in the vomit.
12.Dad does nothing to try to help him anymore all he does is just be there but not for David.
13.He doesn’t because mom gives him excuses and she yells that David deserves it.
14.David hates his dad more because they were close and even though he sees him suffering he does nothing to help him just watching.
15.His next plan to get food is to beg for food on his way home. He goes door to door . Then he goes to a house that is a friend of his mom and he gets in trouble and caught.
16.His mom end up feeding him ammonia and he just eats it even though he tries to fight it .

voc ch 3

1.Mischief: (noun) conduct or activity that playfully causes petty annoyance. I cant stand the how mischief my little brother acts.



2.Radically: ( adj.) in a complete or basic manner. I radically ask the teacher for help in class.




3.Timidly: ( adj.) lacking self-confidence; shy. The timidly boy never wanted to ask questions in school when he was troubled.



4.Scurried: ( verb) to go or move quickly or in haste. I scurried to my house because I wanted to rest.



5.Feverishly: ( adj.) excited, restless, and uncontrolled, as if from fever. The boy couldnt stop cleaning feverishly.




6.Thrashing: ( verb) to beat with or as in flail, especially as a punishment. The crazy mom was thrashing the poor boy for not finishing his chores.




7.Badgered: ( verb) to harass or pester persistently. The guy badgered his girlfriend constantly because of his jealousy.




8.Relentlessly: ( adj.) steady and persistent. The young boy worked relentlessly to get paid.





9.Scorched: ( verb) to wither or parch with intense heat. The women scorched her old dresses.




10.Tactic: ( noun) an expedient for achieving a goal. The girl made a tactic in order to save money and buy a new car.




11.Infuriated: (verb) to make furious; enrage. The mom was infuriated because the boy disobey her orders.

chapter 3 questions

1.David's unfortunate of luck was getting caught in mischief.
2.David’s brothers did not get the same punishment as him because they would be playing while he is doing chores or getting beat up.
3.Mom display a character change by accusing David of things he didn’t do and making up excuses to beat him up. No I cant relate this to anyone I know.
4.Seeing his mom in a nice dress means that she is in a happy mood and its not going to be such a bad day.
5.The difference between corner and mirror treatment is that in the corner you just sit there and the mirror you have to have your head right next to the mirror and say you’re a bad boy. I would prefer the corner treatment because it seems less worse than the mirror treatment.
6.David would fantasize about finding what she lost and making his mom proud.
7.Life with father was more peaceful because mom would not act so bizarre around his dad or other people.
8.David and his dad relationship was good because his father did not treat him like his mom did.
9.The first major abuse from mom was when she popped David’s arm.
10.Her mom told David to sleep on the top bunk so she could tell him he fell of the top bunk. Her plan was to take him to the hospital and lie about how he hurt himself.
11.School for David was like an escape from the abusive home he has.
12.David love his mom and still wanted to be with her because he was still a little boy.
13.When David tries to tell his mom his feelings she doesn’t let him speak and she beats him up more because he talks without permission.
14.If David wants to live he has to buy time and get beat up rather than get burn.
15.Mom feels proud of Ron and happy that he is not a bad boy like David.
