chapter 1 questions

Moshe the beadle was a man of all work at a Hasidic synagogue.
Elie is the boy that is telling the story. He is very religious and motivated about his God.
He studied the Talmud and at night ran to the synagogue to weep over the destruction of the Temple.
At that time, Hitler is taking in control and the massive destruction of the Jews.
At first when they took Moshe the beadle and almost killed him, then when they started limiting the Jews rights such as not been able to have valuable thing in their own home and that they have to wear the yellow star.
The things that happened after the Jewish community were arrested, is that the Jews weren't able to travel by train, couldn’t have gold or valuable things, they had to be home by 6 p.m. and had to wear the yellow star.
The Jews were asked to pack there stuff because of deportation.
They could only bring their personal stuff, clothes and food.
The community was very upset because they had to leave their homes where they had their valuable things, the kids were sad because that’s where they grew up on their childhood.
His mom keep repeating “ we must keep going, we must keep going.” she kept on saying this to stay optimistic and for her family not to give up so they can survive.
All the people were sent to ghettos.
The Weisel’s family went to a smaller ghetto.
The travel was like people left in a rush. The town was deserted. The synagogue was like a station, the altar was broken, the hangings torn and the walls were bar e. They spend a horrible 24 hours there.
